ABOUT Dental Veneers
Dental veneers are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve the appearance. Veneers are bonded to the front of the teeth and are there to change color, shape, size or length.
Dental veneers can be produced out of porcelain or from resin composite materials. Porcelain veneers resist stains better than resin veneers and make better mimic for the light reflecting properties of natural teeth. Resin veneers are thinner and require removal of less of the tooth surface before placement. The patient can discuss the proper veneer material for you with your dentist.
Preparation of a tooth for a veneer requiresremoval about 1-2 millimeter of enamel from the tooth surface, that is an amount nearly equal to the thickness of the veneer that will be placed to the tooth surface. Before trimming off the enamel, patient will discuss with the dentist if it is necessary and which anesthetic will be used.
After then the dentist will prepare a model of your tooth due to patient’s wishes. This model is sent out to a dental laboratory, where the veneers are being produced.Usually it takes 1-2 weeks to make veneers ready and then the doctor places veneers on your teeth. For waiting periodthe temporal dental veneers will be places at no additional cost.
